*Vegan Sparkles*

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MEEEEEEE

This is my very first blog (Facebook doesn't count, right?) and my seventh month as a VEGAN!!
(*cue dramatic music!! * DA DA DAAAAAA!!*)

Although I've been Vego for a long time, I LOVED cheese and didn't understand what the harm was in eating dairy. Those cows need to be milked, don't they?????
Now that I know the truth (look out for a post about it towards the very end of this blog), I know that it has to be Vegan for me.

This blog is mainly designed to share cool recipes and funny stories with my friends and family (and anyone else who wants to come along for the ride!) to help them understand that whilst I may be cultivating my tree hugging, mung bean hippie side, Vegans can be funny and sparkly and delicious too!

So hold onto your hats! It's sure to be a bumpy, funny, informative ride!!

eeeeeeeekkk, here we go!!!

Eventually I dream of being super organised and packing a cute little Vegan lunchbox to bring to work every day, but for now I usually just buy it.  Since choosing vegan, my lunch bar options are obviously not as plentiful as they used to be, but most days I am excited by a big salad from MYO Salad Bar and add all sorts of crazy ingredients to my salads like walnuts, sunflower seeds, sultanas, beans, chickpeas, sundried tomatoes, jalapenos and fruit chutneys.
Today, though, I felt like a change.  So in the name of adventure (and blogging!), I set off on a mission to find something new and exciting!  SUCCESS!  After a bit of aimless wandering (also known as dawdling, which is one of my favourite hobbies), I came across a place called Salsas!  OLE!
This is their Veggie Packed Bowl, which is frijoles, onion & capsicum, broccoli & zucchini, salsa, salsa fresco and guacamole on coriander & lime rice.  It comes with a cute little side serve of corn chips and was fresh and delicious.  It usually comes with cheese and ranch dressing too, but they were more than happy to veganise it.  It was also WAYYY  too much food for me, so I’ve got leftovers for later!
When I was waiting for my order, I saw that they also do a California Salad Burrito filled with beans, onion, capsicum, lettuce, chilli & lime sauce, and pineapple & mango salsa, which is definitely on my hit list the next time I’m craving a change!

Salt on the Beach

I ADORE the beach, so when family members (currently visiting from New Zealand) suggested we meet at Salt on the Beach for lunch yesterday, I was pretty damn excited!  It was a gorgeous spring day and perfect weather for a sunny, sparkly champagne catch-up lunch!

There were 8 of us altogether, but we arrived early and nabbed the best table in the beach bar!  How’s that for a view??

Salt don’t have a lot of vegan options on their menu but they do have a wood-fired pizza oven cranking on the weekends, so I chose the olive oil and rosemary pizza bread with hummus, which was divine.  I also had a side garden salad, which was fresh and delicious, with a vinaigrette dressing.  All washed down with a Margaret River bubbly, mmmmmmmm…

Afterwards, we took our niece and nephew down to the check out the water.  They loved it!
